Question:  How do I obtain copies of police reports or accident reports?

Answer:  Contact the Clare Police at 989-386-2121 to make the request or at the lobby in person. Records are released in compliance with Michigan and Federal FOIA laws. . A copy fee may be charged for the request.  Michigan FOIA information can be found at

Question:  Where do I pay parking tickets?

Answer:  City parking tickets can be paid in one of two ways:

You may mail the fine amount to 207 W Fifth St, Clare MI 48617 or
You may pay in person at the Clare Police Department during business hours.


Question:  Where do I pay traffic tickets?

Answer
:    The City of Clare resides in two separate counties.  Traffic tickets could be issued in either Isabella or Clare Counties.  Please read the bottom of the traffic ticket to determine the Court.  Any questions on court jurisdiction can be forwarded to 989-386-2121

Question:  What is bike licensing and how do I obtain one?

Answer:  A bike license is a registration of your bicycle with the police department in case your bike is ever stolen. When you register your bike, the bike's serial number and description is kept on file. The serial number assists us with entering your bike as stolen in a national database and also assists us in returning the bike to you if it is located. A registration sticker is provided to you for your bike as well.

Question:  Does the Clare Police Department do fingerprinting for job applications?

Answer:  Yes, You will need to contact John Pedjac at 989-386-2121 to schedule a time and check for any fees charged for this service.


Question:  I own a business in the City. How do I recover insufficient funds (NSF) checks?

Answer:  The Clare Police Department handles fraud complaints including NSF and no account checks.  If your business has this type of complaint contact the department and an Officer will explain the prosecution and recovery procedure.

Question:  How do I get a restraining order?

Answer:  Restraining orders are granted by the courts in Clare County and our not a process or service the Clare Police can provide.  Contact the Clare County District Court at 989-539-7173 for further information.

Question:  What is the phone number for the Clare County Jail or the Clare County Sheriff's Department?

Answer:  The non-emergency phone number for the Sheriff's Department is (989) 539-7166.  This is an automated line please follow the instructions to reach Central Dispatch, Clare County Jail or Sheriffs Office personnel.
