Clare City Police Department


ROAD PATROL

The Clare Police Department utilizes four marked and one unmarked vehicles for patrol.  Currently there are four full-time, four part-time Officers and two Sargeants assigned to this division.  The Clare Police Department has Officers on duty 24 hours a day 365 days a year, to provide round the clock police protection.        

BIKE PATROL

The Clare Police Department currently has two certified Bike Patrol Officers.  Officers are required to attend a physically intensive two week course to patrol on bikes.  The Clare Police have two bike patrol units for Officers to utilize on patrol.  Bike Patrol Officers begin working in early April to late September weather permitting.  Bike Patrol Officers respond to all calls and perform community policing functions.



1970 Reserve Police Officers

RESERVE POLICE OFFICERS

The Clare Police Department has utilized a volunteer Reserve Police Officer force since the 1970's.  Reserve Officers are required to attend a 28 hour Reserve Officer academy and then pass a field training program.  The Reserve Officer division assists the department in special duty assignments, parades and road patrol.

POLICE CADETS

The Clare Police Deparment currently has four Police Cadets.  This program is offered to anyone age 18-21 who want to begin a career in Law Enforcement.  Each Cadet is required to attend the Reserve Academy and pass and field training program.  The Cadets are utilized for special functions, peer mentoring and community policing events.
